This month we caught up with Move it or Lose it club member Anne Curtis who is a regular participant in club activities. Here’s what Anne had to say.
Why did you join the Move it or Lose it club?
I already had all the Move it or Lose it DVDs and I was delighted to find out about the club where there was the opportunity for regular sessions with different instructors in my own home.
Have you got any hobbies?
I start my day with a 10 minute meditation using the Headspace or Calm Apps. Different types of exercise is one of my main hobbies. I belong to a toning gym where I do the resistance chairs and beds several times a week. This is also where I find out all the local news and often have a good laugh. I do a slow and gentle yoga class with a holistic teacher, which is a highlight of my week.
I am fortunate to live in the Ribble Valley with lots of beautiful countryside and I enjoy walking although this is more strolling these days.
I am an avid reader and belong to 2 book groups. I am looking forward to visits to cinema, theatres and art galleries in the near future.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever done?
The birth of my children was the first thing that came to mind and then I remembered a wonderful boat trip zooming down the Mekong river in Thailand.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I am past feeling guilty about my pleasures, which include my daily indulgence of 2 big squares of 85% dark chocolate, and my wardrobe containing 10 pairs of boots: short, mid, tall, black, brown, blue and multi (plus 2 pairs of walking boots!)
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t worry about what other people think. Self confidence comes with experience and if you focus on what you can do for others your shyness will disappear.
What one piece of advice would you give to the younger generation?
Let your conscience be your guide and don’t follow the herd. You may find that when you are true to yourself you may become a leader.
